American Avocet

A surprise visitor to Lake Anna, Virginia. While kayaking on the lake in October 2023 in search of Killdeer, my jaw dropped when I recognized the up-curved bills. Apparently this is the first and only documented sighting of these birds at Lake Anna. They were nonplussed by me and the kayak.
